Horizontal Accumulator

Function The exit vertical accumulator will be provided to maintain process section speed during coil discharge operation. Features A vertical cable type exit accumulator will be provided. The total storage capacity will be adequate to accommodate coil dividing, sample and scrap cutting, coil change on tension reel, and visual inspections. A fabricated steel carriage is provided to support rolls mounted on pillow blocks. The carriage is raised and lowered by a cable and pulley arrangement driven through a cable drum and gearbox, by an AC motor. A safety brake is supplied. The carriage is counter-balanced to reduce strip snatching during acceleration and deceleration periods. Fixed rolls running in antifriction, pillow block bearings are mounted to the lower framework. A control system provides indication of the carriage position and the control signal for the speed control of the bridle drive in relation to those of the process section. Limit switches are mounted on the track sides to detect critical positions of the carriage. Strip break sensors will be supplied. Strip Clamps: Air actuated strip brakes will be provided at fixed rolls to hold the strip. Guiding: Cam rollers riding on two fixed rails guide the carriage in its vertical travel.
